Letter of Recommendation (推薦状)
MPA/MPP/MIAのスクールの場合、通常、推薦状が3通必要となる。教授、上司、専門家などである。3年以上の職務経験があれば教授からの推薦状は不要とするのはMBA独自の例外であり、公共政策学でもロー・スクールでも金融工学でも教授からの推薦状は必須となる。
勿論、教授というタイトルには固執しないので、ゼミの教授が当時准教授/助教授であっても全く問題はない。 過去には講師や客員教授の場合もあった。
なお、推薦状の用紙を用意していないスクールのほうが多いので、推薦状は推薦者が所属する機関の英文便箋(Letterhead)を使用することになる。
PDF形式の推薦状を参考にアップするが、原則、オンラインでも同様である。
4校の推薦状を比較すると判るが、Columbiaの推薦状には推薦状の用紙はなく、依頼書とWaiver Formである。
サンプルは教授、助教授、講師、上司、専門職、など用意してあるので、受付に申し込むこと。コピーは許されていないが、PCの持込可。
以下、スクールからの推薦状に関する指示である。

Letters of Recommendations; Students are asked to submit 3 letters of recommendation. For students closer to their undergraduate experience, two letters should come from faculty members with whom they have studied. For students with several years experience, it is preferred that at least one of these is from an academic source, however, we understand that this is not always feasible.

Letters of Recommendations: Three are required. One should come from a professor, one from a supervisor in a professional setting, and the third from faculty, administrators, or professionals who can comment on the applicant's commitment to public service. Be sure that writers of references understand the reasons behind the application to the Woodrow Wilson School as well as the applicant's goals and strengths so that they are as well informed as possible.

Letters of Recommendations: Three (3) letters of recommendation are required and should reflect the academic and, if relevant, job capabilities and experience of the applicant. Academic recommendations should be from faculty members in the major discipline. We encourage applicants to submit letters of recommendation electronically. Please see the online application for instructions. Hard copy letters of recommendation are also accepted and should be mailed directly to the Ford School of Public Policy .

Letters of Recommendations: Recommendation forms must be completed by three individuals who are able to evaluate your intellectual, academic or professional capacity. All recommendations must be submitted via the online application or in sealed envelopes, signed by the recommender across the seal, and enclosed with your other application materials or mailed directly by the recommender to our office.

Three (3) letters of recommendation. We encourage use of the online electronic letter of recommendation and form provided with the Duke Graduate School Electronic Application (in lieu of placement office [pre-positioned] recommendations which tend to be more generic in content). Individual, personalized letters of recommendation (provided in addition to the Duke Evaluation Form) from academic and professional references, who can speak directly about your accomplishments and potential during and after completion of the MPP Program, are encouraged in lieu of generic placement office recommendation letters which normally are not tailored towards our specific program of study.
Applicants who recently completed their undergraduate deGRE®Teste (1-2 years prior to application to Duke's MPP Program), may wish to submit two (2) recommendations from academic professors/instructors and one (1) professional recommendation from a work-related reference. As one moves further away from completion of the undergraduate deGRE®Teste (generally speaking three (3) or more years of post undergraduate work), then it would be prudent to obtain one (1) recommendation from an academic professor/instructor and two (2) from work-related professionals. For applicants with significant post-undergraduate work experience (such as four (4) or more years), it would be appropriate if all three (3) recommendations are obtained from work related professionals.
Curriculum Vitae, Resume (履歴書 経歴書)
提出する履歴書で注意すべきは、MBAと違い1頁ではなく、数頁にわたることが多い点である。One-page Resumeでなければ違反のように言われることがあるが、One-Page ResumeとはアメリカのMBAで就職活動に使う形式で、MPA/MPP/MIAは場合はResumeより Curriculum Vitaeとしての要素が強い。
即ち、Curriculum Vitaeは最低で2頁はあり、より詳細な概要が記載されているものである。アメリカでは学術的な色が濃い上級研究員や特別研究員に頻繁に使用され、研究奨学金や研究助成金などの申請に必須である。

CV/Résumé: Please outline the following (where appropriate). The typical length of a CV/Résumé is 3 to 4 pages:
- Employment held (include title of jobs and start/end dates)
- Academic honors, including fellowships you have been awarded
- Volunteer, public service, or political work you have done
- Memberships in honorary societies and awards for service or leadership you have received
- Extracurricular activities; and, particularly if an MIA applicant
- Any foreign travel undertaken (state purpose and length of stay)

A current resume or curriculum vitae must be submitted. Applicants who apply online should attach this under the section asking for a resume. Please do not confuse this with your statement of purpose, two separate documents must be submitted.
