 Letter of Recommendation (推薦状)
通常、推薦状が3通必要となる。教授、上司、専門家などである。3年以上の職務経験があれば教授からの推薦状は不要とするのはMBA独自の例外であり、金融工学では、ロー・スクールや公共政策学同様、教授からの推薦状は必須となる。
勿論、教授というタイトルには固執しないので、ゼミの教授が准教授・助教授であっても全く問題はない。 過去には講師や客員教授の場合もあった。
なお、推薦状の用紙を用意していないスクールのほうが多いので、推薦状は推薦者が所属する機関の英文便箋(Letterhead)を使用することになる。
PDF形式の推薦状を参考にアップするが、原則、オンラインでも同様である。
 サンプルは教授、助教授、講師、上司、専門職など用意してあるので、受付に申し込むこと。コピーは許されていないが、PCの持込可。
以下、スクールからの推薦状に関する指示である。

We expect three letters of recommendation. You may include one additional recommendation, if you wish. People who have supervised you in either an academic or employment setting should write your recommendations. If possible, at least one should be from a university professor familiar with your academic work. Your recommendations should directly address your suitability for admission to the Financial Math program. We pay extra attention to the potential for future excellence, as indicated in letters of recommendation. The most important factors we look at are: quantitative and analytic strength, communication skills in English, leadership, maturity and focus.

The most important consideration in admissions decisions is your talent for and preparation in mathematics. This could come from mathematics classes or highly mathematical classes in the sciences or engineering. The most helpful letters are from people who have seen your performance in the most challenging situations and can compare it to others. This generally means instructors in advanced classes that are heavily quantitative or mathematical. If you have significant work experience, we appreciate a letter from a manager who can describe your technical accomplishments. You may submit more than three letters, but please do not do so unless the extra letter adds significant new information.
Curriculum Vitae, Resume (履歴書 経歴書)
提出する履歴書で注意すべきは、MBAと違い1頁ではなく、数頁にわたることが多い点である。One-page Resumeでなければ違反のように言われることがあるが、One-Page ResumeとはアメリカのMBAで就職活動に使う形式で、この分野の場合はResumeより Curriculum Vitaeとしての要素が強い。
即ち、Curriculum Vitaeは最低で2頁はあり、より詳細な概要が記載されているものである。アメリカでは学術的な色が濃い上級研究員や特別研究員に頻繁に使用され、研究奨学金や研究助成金などの申請に必須である。
