認定協会(Accreditation Association)
アメリカには、日本と違い、高等教育を中央的に統括する文部科学省のような省庁はない。アメリカでは大学や大学院を認定するのは民間の認定協会(accrediting association)である。これをモデルにして最近日本でも高等教育の質の向上を目指して大学基準協会が設立された。
認定協会には全米を6つの地域別に認定する地域認定協会(regional accrediting association) と専門分野別に認定する専門分野認定協会(specialized accreditation) がある。現在、ファイナンス学部(Department of Financ)は経営学大学院(ビジネス・スクール)に所属するので認定は AACSBとなる。

教育にランキングを付けるのは、長年にわたり、そして今でも論争の的になっている。ネーム・ゲームにすぎないとは言えど、ランキングが発表されると受験者数の増減に直接影響があり、在学生も卒業生もそして教職員も一喜一憂するのも現実である。色々な物議をかもし出すが、現実として認知されている情報であることは否めない。。

プログラム例
Financeを修士レベルで勉強するのは
となる。どのプログラムを選ぶかはプログラム終了後のキャリアによって異なってくると同時に、大学時での専攻や履修科目などの受験資格にもよる。金融工学の場合は受験資格が厳しいが、MS in Financeは、一部のプログラムを除き、受験資格は緩やかである。
下に記載のイリノイ大学のMS in Financeでは Capital Asset Pricing Model や Fama-French modelやMonte Carlo techniques学ぶが、仕事ですでにこれらのモデルを使って仕事をしている場合は、MS in Financeでは内容的に物足りないので、金融工学となる。

Established in 1958, the Illinois MSF is among the longest running programs of its type in the world. The curriculum, which can be completed after 12 months of rigorous, full-time study, is taught by internationally recognized finance faculty and provides an opportunity to study with an International peer group at one of the premier, public research institutions in the world.
The College of Business is proud to provide MSF students with a new home beginning in Fall 2008. The Business Instructional Facility is a sustainable, environmentally efficient building. The Market Information Lab within the new facility, sponsored in part by the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, will provide students with state-of-the-art tools and software products, bringing real-world exposure to their academic experience.
必修科目
The MSF program begins in June with an intense, core summer curriculum. Over summer term, students will master fundamental techniques in financial statement analysis, financial modeling, stock and firm valuation, statistical analysis, reGRE®Testssion analysis, and time series analysis. The two summer core classes are Corporate Finance and Valuation and Quantitative Methods for Finance. Moving beyond the traditional lecture format, students will practice techniques through software applications during regular class meetings and in weekly review and practice sessions during which they will learn extensive applications of techniques with widely-used software packages and real data.

- Corporate Finance and Valuation - introduces students to fundamental tools in corporate finance such as:
- Financial statement analysis
- Estimating a firm’s cost of capital
- Project analysis and the use of investment decision rules
- Stock and firm valuation techniques
- Monte Carlo simulations and applications in real option valuation
- Quantitative Methods for Finance - introduces financial applications of quantitative techniques covered in areas such as:
- Analysis of time series data on stock returns and bond yields
- Analysis of cross-section firm or bank data
- Applications of the Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM), and the Fama-French model in investments and corporate finance
- In-class teaching of financial modeling techniques with Excel
- Forecasting financial statements
- Project analysis and the use of NPV and IRR decision rules
- Valuation techniques (Discounted cash flow valuation, multiples valuation, adjusted present value)
- In-class teaching of Monte Carlo techniques with Crystal Ball software
- Applications of Monte Carlo techniques in real options valuation through the use of Crystal Ball’s Real Options Analysis Toolkit software
専攻分野
In the fall and spring semesters, you select courses to customize your deGRE®Teste. Generally, students take most of their electives in areas of finance but some take a few electives in other disciplines. Many students choose to take courses from an assortment of areas to improve their overall understanding of finance while others prefer to specialize by focusing on recommended courses within one of the finance specializations below.

CFA関連
The MSF curriculum provides very good preparation for CFA Level I and II examinations. Students also have the opportunity to attend a CFA Level I preparatory course offered every spring semester.
受験資格(Eligibility & Prerequisites)
Students in the MSF program have a variety of educational backgrounds and work experience. Many students in the program have a business-related undergraduate deGRE®Teste but the program also attracts people with undergraduate deGRE®Testes in such areas as engineering, math, physics, and computer science.
Work experience is highly recommended though not an absolute requirement; however, on average, MSF students have two to three years of post undergraduate work experience, many in finance-related positions.

Whitman students in the MS in Finance program graduate from the rigorous, one-year curriculum well-versed in the global framework of finance, preparing them to manage the risks associated with operating in a global marketplace. The program’s core courses explore the nature of capital markets as they relate to organizational goals and provide an understanding of how broad principles of finance and quantitative methods can be applied to create investment strategies.
The flexible MS in Finance program allows students to customize their deGRE®Teste by taking elective courses in any of the following areas: statistics, accounting, economics, international business studies, and real estate, preparing students for specialized careers in corporate finance, securities markets, and financial management. Along the way, Whitman students are given personal access to analysis tools and investment instruments used by professionals in the field, including Bloomberg certification terminals through Whitman’s Ballentine Investment Institute.

アウトライン
The Master of Science in Finance (MSF) prepares students for careers in financial analysis and management. This rigorous quantitative program relies on current technology and financial methodologies to analyze complex problems. The coursework stresses the application of contemporary theories in a global context and develops valuable financial modeling and analytical skills.
The Master of Science in Finance requires foundation courses in finance such as Financial Accounting, Business, Government and the World Economy, Statistics for Business, Financial Management, and Mathematics for Financial Analysts. Note that foundation courses may be waived by equivalent graduate course work, professional designation (CFA, CPA), or a passing waiver exam.
Core courses include Managerial Economics, Corporate Finance, Advanced Corporate Finance: A Case Study Approach, Financial Statement Analysis, Financial Modeling, Investment Analysis and Portfolio Management, Derivative Securities, and Advanced Portfolio Management.
Twelve credits in elective classes are also required to complete the Master of Science in Finance program.
